 WBBZ Air Personality...Mike Butt -
You may not know that one of the voices you listen to each weekend on WBBZ
radio is that of Mike Butt, has been a radio personality since 1966.
Mike currently works weekend mornings and fills in during the week. He keeps
the world singing along with music and provides updates on weather, sports,
and local events. Mike is the longest serving WBBZ employee having started
on the air in 1979.
Unlike most of us, Mike set goals early in life. He determined to become a
broadcaster when he was only a child of six while tagging along with his
uncle Pat Tobin who worked at WBBZ in the early 50's.
Mike recalls the days when radio involved vinyl records on a turntable as
well as tapes on a reel-to-reel deck. In the course of his broadcasting
career, he has worked at stations in Oklahoma City, Ponca City, Blackwell
and Arkansas City.
As Mike says "I just love my paid hobby".
Mike married Theresa over 30 years ago. Their family includes five daughters
